Battle continues with station owner

A Hanover Township property continues to vex officials.

Township Manager Sandra Pudliner told Hanover Township Council members the former LukOil gas station just off Race Street continues to be a problem.

“This has been going on for years,” she said. “At our last go-around, the owner declared that the mobile home on the site was a storage shed. We asked that he close the unit up.”

He has done some of the things we asked, but we still have more that needs to be done from the original agreement.” Pudliner made the comments at the Nov. 16 council meeting.

The station has been cited for multiple violations including the pump, garbage and the mobile home.

“He has been cited various times and paid the fee for the violations,” Pudliner said. “I recommend that we continue to pursue the citation and have him pay another fee.”

Council agreed to move forward with a hearing.

Township Engineer Albert Kortze reported that Fence Pros was selected to install the 8-foot-high fence between the Days Inn and Chestnut Grove.

The fence replaces arbor vitae that shielded the homeowners.

The vegetation had been removed to repair sewer lines for Chestnut Grove.

Solicitor Jackson Eaton also reported that the township will meet with PennDOT, Allen Township, Rockefeller Group and Lehigh Valley International Airport representatives to go through the details of the existing agreements and easements for the FedEx Ground hub construction that will impact Hanover Township roads.

“This book has grown; it’s probably about 8 inches thick,” he said.

Once the agreements are approved, construction can move forward on the part of Willowbrook Road in Hanover Township and the township’s portion of Race Street and Airport Road.
