CAMERATA SINGERS
The adult vocal group, Camerata Singers, under the direction of its founder Allan Birney, will present a complete performance of George F. Handel’s “Messiah,” 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17, First Presbyterian Church, 3231 W. Tilghman St., Allentown.
The work for solo voices, chorus and orchestra is often associated with Christmas, particularly for its universally recognized “Hallelujah Chorus.”
“The Camerata Singers has the tradition of performing ‘Messiah’ every other year in December,“ said Birney.
On alternate years, Birney programs a variety of Christmas and seasonal pieces for the group’s holiday program.
The professional vocal soloists are Kathryn Aaron, soprano; Roger Isaacs, contertenor; Stephen Sands, tenor, and Elem Eley, bass.
Accompaniment will be provided by the Pennsylvania Sinfonia Orchestra, a professional chamber orchestra based in the Lehigh Valley.
Tickets are expected to be available in advance and at the door.
