Coplay: Warmth for a Friend drive ends Saturday

The last day to donate a coat, sweater, scarf or gloves for the Warmth for a Friend drive is Dec. 17. The drop-off locations include St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St.; St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St.; the library, 49 S. Fifth St.; the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.; and the post office, 918 Chestnut St.

Commitment to Family & Community has an all-you-can-eat breakfast 8 a.m.-noon Dec. 18 at its hall, the former Coplay Fire Company, 165 Cherry St.

Members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, along with some friends, will be decked out in their holiday finery Dec. 18 when they go caroling to the homes of shut-in members of St. John’s. This is a holiday tradition.

Caroling will begin 5 p.m., which is preceded by a light lunch at the church hall 4 p.m.

Hot chocolate and cookies will close the festivities for the carolers on their return to the church.

On Dec. 19, borough council has a special meeting scheduled for 7 p.m.

Coplay Lions Club meets 7:15 p.m. Dec. 19 at Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St.

As residents make their New Year’s Eve plans, Coplay Saengerbund reports there will not be any dance or live music there; instead, it will be an open house.

Also, American Club of Coplay, 32 N. Third St., will have an open house, as will Stanley W. Reinhard Jr. American Legion Post 426, 134 S. Second St.
