Ruth E. Roberts, 86, formerly of Trexlertown, died Dec. 2, 2016, at Emeritus, Brookdale Senior Living, Allentown, where she had been residing.

She was the wife of the late Fred “Fritz” Roberts Jr.

Born Feb. 21, 1930, in Slatington, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Estella (Walters) Lilly.

A cook in the cafeteria of the former Slatington High School for 25 years before retiring in 1988, she also worked at the former Western Electric, Allentown.

She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

She and her late husband participated in the former Drum and Bugle Corps of Allen O. Delke American Legion Post 16.

Her survivors include a son Randy S. Roberts and his wife, Deanna, of Orefield; daughter Kathy J. Lakatosh of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; brothers Sam Lilly of Easton, Donald Lilly of Palmerton; and sister Gladys Burk of Claymont, Del.

She was predeceased by siblings William, Elwood, Walter, David, Ernest, Arlene, Marie and Marion.

Her funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Dec. 10 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Kris P. Snyder-Samuelson officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
