Dr. Stewart R. Rockwell, 94, of Emmaus, died Nov. 29, 2016, in his residence. He was the husband of Mary (Nicol) Rockwell. Born in Stevens Point, he was the son of the late Ray M. and Olivia (Ellnor) Rockwell.
He was a graduate of Cornell University, earning a degree in veterinary science. He was a veterinarian, owning East Penn Veterinary Associates for 36 years, retiring in 1986.
He honorably served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was an active member of Emmaus Moravian Church, serving with the “peanut gang” and the Senior Citizens Group.
He was a member of the Emmaus Rotary Club since 1953, serving as district governor and was a member and past president of the Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Association.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Leigh and his wife Lynn, of Reading and Bruce and his wife Robin, of Allentown; daughters, Andrea Messenlehner, of Macungie, Mary Louise, of Emmaus, Olivia and her husband Samuel Charnegie, of Macungie, and Susan and her husband Darwin Breaux, of Boiling Springs; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
