Danielle Peters of Orefield and other student leaders of the Preventive Medicine Interest Group at The Commonwealth Medical College, Scranton, helped plan a Nov. 30 lecture by renowned biochemist and author T. Colin Campbell, Ph.D.

Dr. Campbell discussed “Why is Nutrition Ignored in Medicine?”

The Interest Group was formed to improve the well being of the community by providing the latest, most promising information on wellness and on preventing illnesses - especially heart disease, cancer and diabetes - through lifestyle changes.

The lecture series the students helped to plan invites thought leaders who provide the community with the tools needed to make healthy decisions for themselves and their families.

Lectures focus on subjects such as nutrition, sleep medicine, substance abuse, smoking cessation and other lifestyle changes that improve health and substantially lower health risks.
