The fundraiser for the borough’s Community Plaza, Second and Chestnut streets, is tomorrow evening, Dec. 9, at the American Club of Coplay pavilion. Doors open 5:45 p.m.

Social Call will perform 7-10 p.m.

There is a parade coming to the borough Dec. 11 - perhaps not as big as some parades, but one that girls and boys will be excited about. Santa will be on a sleigh, and Mrs. Claus will be at his side.

In keeping with tradition, Coplay Sports Inc. is holding its annual Santa parade, starting 10:30 a.m. and winding its way through every street in the borough. Along with favors for each child, Santa will deliver presents to kids whose parents brought the gift to Coplay Sports field house on Sixth Street. The special presents are to be dropped off at the field house 6-8 p.m. Dec. 9 or 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dec. 10. The gifts are to be wrapped, with the child’s name and address included, and placed in a brown paper bag.

Santa will be accompanied by elves, clowns, the borough fire engine and a decorated camper playing holiday music.

Dec. 11 is the deadline for residents to drop off new Christmas presents at borough hall for the Marine Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots project.

The final day to drop off coats, sweaters, gloves, scarves and hats for the Warmth for a Friend program is Dec. 17. Drop off items at the municipal building, 98 S. Fourth St.; library, 49 S. Fifth St.; post office, 918 Chestnut St.; St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St.; and St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 4 S. Fifth St.

Coplay Athletic Club will hold a membership meeting 10:30 a.m. Dec. 18 in its weight room on the second floor of borough hall.

The offering taken during the Thanksgiving ecumenical service, held at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, went to the borough fire department for its projects.
