Florence D. Snyder
Florence D. Snyder, 90, died peaceably Nov. 25, 2016, at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown. She was the wife of the late George David Snyder for 62 years. A former resident of Allentown and Weston Senior Living, Emmaus, she was the daughter of the late Clayton A. and Mary M. (Ziegenfus) Dorward.
She was a graduate of Allentown High School and West Chester State Teachers College majoring in math and music education. She taught full time in the Allentown School District and later substituted for over 30 years.
She was a certified Associate in Ministry (AIM) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church for 46 years. She was a longtime member of the former St. James Lutheran Church, Allentown, serving as church organist, choir director, superintendent of Vacation Bible School, a member of church council, Sunday school teacher and Young-at-Heart pianist. She was a present member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, where she served as organist, choir director, director of music for choir camp, and retiring as organist emeritus.
She loved taking photos of family and was never without her camera or tape recorder. She served as president of the Ziegenfuss/Ziegenfus family reunion for several years.
She is survived a son, George Daniel; daughter, Nancy A. and her husband George Myers, both of Allentown; daughter, Janice A. Monroe, of Germansville; sister, Jean Smoyer, of Allentown; three grandchildren, Kari and her husband Josh Woodland, Christopher Monroe, Eric and his wife Amy Monroe; six great-grandchildren, Maya and Alexandra Woodland, Landen and Cameron Monroe, Jordan and Logan Monroe; nieces and a nephew, cousin Paul Robert Ziegenfus. She was predeceased by a brother, James Dorward.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Dec. 2, at Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church, 3441 Devonshire Road, Allentown, 18103. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service in the church.
