Firefighters from eight volunteer fire departments responded 12:36 p.m. Nov. 22 for a two-alarm house fire at 3265 Barry Road, North Whitehall Township.
Firefighters came from Neffs, Schnecksville, Laurys Station, Tri-Clover, Germansville, Slatington, Woodlawn and Greenawalds Rapid Intervention Team.
Macungie’s Rehabilitation Ambulance provided the firefighters with beverages, plus Northern Valley Ambulance Corps also responded.
“Upon arrival of firefighters, they encountered a large amount of fire outside the garage and home addition,” Neffs Volunteer Fire Chief Jim Steward told The Press via email. “Fire was extending to the roof and into the home.”
“The interior had fire damage in the addition and adjacent second floor room, as well as moderate smoke damage throughout the home.”
Steward stated firefighters were able to quickly knock down the flames.
“Their fast efforts contributed to saving the home from large losses,” he wrote, adding there were no injuries.
According to Lehigh County assessment records, the two-story, single family home is owned by Murali Ponnala and Vaishali Arjula.
Tenants Justin Singer, two school age children and Marty Gresh, who were displaced by the fire, are living with family and friends.
The fire was called under control at 1:30 p.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
