EMMAUS BOROUGH COUNCIL

Emmaus Borough Council held a brief meeting Nov. 21.

The decision on the heating oil, kerosene, diesel and unleaded fuel bids were discussed.

Council voted 7-0 in favor of awarding Lehigh Fuels with the heating oil and kerosene bids and a new company called Talley Petroleum was awarded the unleaded and diesel fuel bids. The heating oil will cost $1.65 per gallon, kerosene $2.19 per gallon, unleaded fuel $1.70 per gallon and diesel fuel at $1.68 per gallon.

In previous years, council has sent out a bid once per year for all four fuel and oil contracts. This year it was decided by council to bid on a 3-year contract as it became burdensome to do every year and council believes it will add more consistency to the delivery schedules.

The borough will save $4,830 per year by using Talley Petroleum and $984 per year for diesel deliveries totaling a 3-year difference of $17,442 between both bids.

The next council meeting will be 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at borough hall, 28 S. Fourth St., Emmaus.
