Model train layouts, including Thomas the Tank Engine, steam their way throughout the Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St., Allentown, starting Nov. 25.
“Trains are most magical at Christmas. They capture the imaginations of young and old,” said Joseph Garrera, Executive Director of the Museum. “We see this in the Polar Express, Thomas the Tank Engine, and the lure of trains everywhere.”
The Museum’s holiday exhibit features railroad layouts, the sound of steam locomotives, depictions of the power of modern diesels, and the role of railroads in building America.
Thomas the Tank Engine occupies the Museum’s “Thomas Fun Room.” Here, children can watch Thomas the Tank Engine and his friend Percy travel the rails. Children can color pictures of Thomas, play with a wooden Thomas train set, and enjoy other railroad crafts and activities.
The exhibit continues through Dec. 30. Exhibit hours are 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday, noon - 4 p.m. Sunday. The Museum is closed Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24; Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day, Dec. 25.
