State Police Troop M Fogelsville say a 46-year-old woman from the 7600 block of Lyon Valley Road, Weisenberg Township, reported between noon Oct. 1 and 10:36 a.m. Oct. 31 she received an unsolicited phone call from an individual offering a $3,000 loan.
Police allege the suspect e-deposited a check in the amount of $495.90 into the woman’s account.
To verify it was her account, she was to immediately withdraw the funds, purchase an iTunes gift card and then contact the individual with the gift card account and PIN information, police say.
Police say several days later, the woman discovered the e-deposited check had no funds and her account was overdrawn.
State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Todd L. Schaffer, 48, of Slatington, was driving a 1987 Peterbilt 359 Conventional tractor when it jackknifed 5:29 a.m. Nov. 16 on Kings Highway (Route 143), Lynn Township.
According to police, the truck was traveling west on Route 143 in the area of Leaser Road, when it struck a deer causing it to leave the right side of the road, striking an embankment.
The truck then traveled across both lanes of Route 143, jackknifing on the left side of the road.
Police say Schaffer, who was wearing his seat belt, was uninjured.
The truck was towed from the scene.
