To The Editor:
I hope the Bearman was joking, though perhaps sarcastically, when he took about 15 seconds Sunday Nov. 13, to denounce President-Elect Donald Trump as not being a legitimate president because he did not win the popular vote.
What I heard sounded divisive.
There is strife all across the country and we need not fan the flames of a misguided rebellion here in the Lehigh Valley.
It appears The Bearman and our younger generation have no understanding of the Electoral College and its use in the election process to fairly represent the will of the people across the country.
I believe this lack of understanding or education causes people to become emotionally charged and deride a system which was purposely put in place so Rhode Island and California receive proportional election power.
Remember, as a nation, we are not a democracy. America is a Constitutional Republic.
If the difference is not understood, therein lies the problem.
You will be providing a valuable service to the Lehigh Valley in tempering uninformed opinion with fact.
