Miller-Keystone Blood Center will be at St. John’s Lutheran Church social hall 8 a.m. Nov. 26 for a blood drive.

The church is located at 18 S. Third St.

The public is invited to donate.

Borough office and public works employees will have an extended holiday, Thanksgiving and Black Friday. The office will reopen Nov. 28.

Coplay Recreation & Welfare Association will hold its annual community tree-lighting program 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 outside borough hall, Fourth and Center streets.

Holiday carols will be sung, while attendees await Santa’s arrival on the borough fire truck.

Each child will receive a gift bag.

The program will then move inside to the auditorium for a performance by Lori Kulp Woodward and James Hummel. In keeping with tradition, afterward, the association will serve hot chocolate and doughnuts.

A coat drive is underway in the borough.

St. Peter Catholic Church is collecting for the needy at the Rescue Mission, Allentown. Donations also can be dropped off at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Coplay Public Library and the borough police station.

The borough planning commission and the park and recreation board have joined forces in sponsoring a fundraiser Dec. 9 at American Club of Coplay pavilion. Proceeds will benefit the community plaza project at Second and Chestnut streets. Social Call will provide the musical entertainment.
