Michael Kish Jr.
Michael Kish, Jr., 91, of Sacred Heart Assisted Living, Center Valley, formerly of Emmaus and Frenchtown, N.J., died Nov. 2, 2016. He was also known as Mike and “Tookie” to family and close friends. He was the husband of the late Susan (Heiser) Kish who died Nov. 29, 2007. Born in Wilkes Barre, he was a son of the late Michael and Constance Grencavage Kish.
He proudly served in the Navy during World War II, participating in D-Day in Normandy, France and also served during the Korean War.
He received a bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg State College and a master’s degree from Trenton State College. He was a long-time educator, teaching at the Kingwood School in Kingwood, N.J. and was a physical education and wood shop teacher at the Milford Elementary School, Milford, N.J. He also worked as a police officer in Frenchtown, N.J. for many years. After his retirement, he was a shuttle driver and parts deliverer for Vinart Auto Dealership in Emmaus.
He was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Emmaus, where he served as an usher.
He was a member of the VFW Post 7088, Emmaus and was a 69-year member of the American Legion Post, 0113, Frenchtown.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara and her husband Andrew Gubanich; two sons, John “Jack” and David and his wife Maura; nine grandchildren, Rebecca and her husband Grant Raskin, Elizabeth and her husband Kyle Reed, Heather and her husband Robert Wulff, Christopher and his wife Lauren, Jamie, Megan, Brian, Nicole and Maria Kish; seven great-grandchildren, Justin, Kyle, Nicholas and Max Wulff, Van and Harper Kish and Maxim Raskin. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles and John and two sisters, Margaret Briele and Ann Buli.
