James A. Lohr

James A. Lohr, 72, of Kempton, formerly of Lansdale, died on Oct. 28, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.

He was married to Billie Marie (Supplee) Lohr who died in 2010.

Born in Norristown, he was a son of the late James G. and Helen F. (Coffman) Lohr.

He attended Upper Merion High School, and later continued his studies at Villanova and Drexel universities.

An electrical engineer and computing system designer, he was the past president of the former Aydin Corp., Computer Systems Division, Horsham.

He later worked at Unisys, Global Industries and with DRS Technologies.

From 2002 to present, he was the sole proprietor of JalComm LLC, a professional service consulting practice.

Much of his work was with the Department of Defense and NASA.

He served with the U.S. Navy as an anti-submarine warfare electronic technician (AX-2) and a tactical coordinator on P5M and P3 ASW aircraft from 1961-65.

He was a life member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and American MENSA.

He attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, King of Prussia, and Christ Lutheran Church, Harleysville.

He loved entertaining and spending time with his immediate and extended family cooking, fishing, doing trivia, traveling internationally and domestic and playing poker in Las Vegas.

His survivors include daughters Melissa Lohr of Columbus, Ohio, and Christine Lohr of Newtown; sons James E. (Kathi) Lohr, Harleysville; Bruce (Donna) Lohr of Schwenksville; Daniel E. Lohr and fiancee Nicole of Lewisburg; sister Linda Lohr of Palm Desert, Calif.; brothers William (Nancy) Lohr of West Chester and John Lohr; grandchildren Stephanie (Eric), Andrew, Michelle, Tyler, Liam, Lindsay, Emma, Elise and Christie; step-grandchildren Quentin and Westen, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Heidi.

His memorial service will be 3 p.m. Nov. 12 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 132 E. Valley Forge Road, King of Prussia.
