Allan R. James, Sr., 87, of Lower Macungie Township, formerly of Allentown, died Nov. 5, 2016, in St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Shirley L. (Didra) James. They were married 63 years. Born in Trenton, N.J., he was the son of the late Charles and Emma (Laarz) James.

He was a truck mechanic and shop supervisor at the former Beth-Allen Sales, Allentown and Reeb Millwork, Bethlehem, until retiring.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean War.

He was a member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown.

He was a member of the Fearless Fire Co., Allentown.

He is survived by his wife; son, Allan R. Jr.; daughter, Kathy and her husband Thomas Geshel; granddaughters, Chelsea and Lauren Geshel. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles and sisters, Lillian, Louise and Marie.

Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10 at the Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, 17th and Hamilton streets, Allentown. A viewing will be held 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
