Each year the Northwestern Lehigh Alumni Association sponsors a fundraiser in support of the Northwestern Lehigh Education Foundation’s mini-grant program.
To date the association has donated $10,000 for materials that are not included in the school district budget.
Many of the bingo players came to the Lynnport Fire Company social hall Oct. 30 dressed in Halloween costumes.
“We thank every one for their generous donation to the alumni association which supports the community and the education of our youth,” said Justine Bachman, the bingo organizer.
Major contributors to the Chinese auction were Bake Oven with a $50 gift card for Curious Goods, a tour for four from Eight Oakes craft distillers, Krysta Hankee Memorial gave a $25 Curious Goods gift card, Hartman’s Butcher Shop, Donna Dellicker gift basket, and potatoes from Smokey Wessner of Flint Hill Farms.
“To raise the money would not be possible without you,” said Charlene Lenhart Silva, announcer and president of the alumni.
Other board members are Nancy Zellner, Gloria Zimmerman, Laura George, Mike Kistler, Donna Christ and Charlie Fenstermaker. Everyone on the board is a graduate of Northwestern Lehigh.
Food and socks were collected. The food, filling five large boxes, will go to the Christ’s Church at Lowhill Food Pantry.
The socks, 97 pair, go to the Blessings Room at the food pantry, in memory of Sylvia Koenig, a former secretary in the main office of the school.
Fenstermaker called the games. The alumni were offering cushions for sale and also did the cooking. There will be an all-class reunion on Nov. 26 at the Willow Tree Grove.
Tickets are available by calling 610-760-1175.
