Beatrice Helen (Kern) Moyer

Beatrice Helen “Beaty” (Kern) Moyer, 85, of Orefield, died Oct. 24, 2016 in her home. Alzheimer’s dementia marred her final years but never extinguished her remarkable spirit.

She was surrounded by her loving family and devoted caregiver.

Born April 30, 1931, in Schnecksville, she was a daughetr of Lester Ellsworth and Arline Louisa (Stahley) Kern.

A 1948 graduate of the former South Whitehall High School,she married the love of her life, Harold R. Moyer, on Dec. 17, 1949.

She was a lifelong member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

She was a cook for 30 years with the Parkland School District, becoming head cook at Ironton Elementary School before retiring in 1993.

Active in the life of her community, she volunteered with Tri-Clover Fire Company and worked at Ross’ Plants and Flowers delivering flowers throughout the area.

She enjoyed camping, hiking and fishing, as well as spending time at Promised Land State Park and Lake Dalhousie, Ontario, Canada, with her husband, family and friends.

In her later years, she loved to drive through the Lehigh Valley Game Preserve looking for deer.

She also loved to swim and taught many children to do so.

Having a passion for bowling, she used her talent helping visually impaired bowlers.

She loved being surrounded by family and friends and family gatherings were festive and everyone enjoyed her cooking and sense of humor.

Her laugh was instantly recognizable by those that knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her children Carol A. Moyer and her partner, Helen R. Lewis, of Drexel Hill, Roger H. Moyer and his wife, Debbie (Spence), of Macungie; grandsons Stephen Moyer, Andrew Moyer and wife Brittany (Everett): siblings Madeline A. Bingell and husband, Richard, of Whitehall, L. Thomas Kern and wife, Nancy (Lichtenwalner), of Schnecksville; special friends Kathi, Ted, Daulton and Hadyn Charles; many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by brothers Forrest, Norwood and Gerald Kern.
