Editor’s Note: The Press welcomes Emmy Cogill as the new Salisbury High School student columnist. Cogill is a junior who is a member of the debate team. She enjoys doing special effects/horror movie makeup and painting in her spare time and enjoys history and art in school.
Although we can all mourn the ending of October and the passing of Halloween, there are many November activities to look forward to in the next two weeks.
Starting off Nov. 7, there is an early dismissal for both Salisbury High School and Salisbury Middle School students. Lehigh Career and Technical Institute students will be dismissed early if they have a permission form on file in the main office; other students will be dismissed 10:45 a.m.
Students will have off Nov. 8 for a Professional Development Day. Enjoy the day off Falcons.
The Salisbury High School Theatre premieres the fall play “Twelfth Night” 7 p.m. Nov. 10. The play will also run 7 p.m. Nov. 11 and 12 and 3 p.m. Nov. 13. Tickets can be purchased from cast or crew members, at the door or reserved via email (salisburytheatre@salisburysd.org) or by phone (610-797-4107, ext. 2508).
If you are in need of some new Salisbury gear, you’re in luck.
The Salisbury Athletic Booster Club is having a sale on navy blue hats and magnets while supplies last. Hats and magnets can be purchased from outside the SHS concession stand or through emailing cpennella@salisbury.org, but you can also find magnets at the SHS athletic office or the main offices at SMS, Western Salisbury Elementary School and Harry S Truman Elementary School.

The 2016 annual Salisbury Youth Boys Basketball Camp will be held 1 to 4 p.m. Nov. 13 in the SHS gym for a small fee (cash and checks are accepted: checks should be made out to Salisbury boys basketball booster club). The camp is run by the Salisbury High School boys basketball coaching staff and varsity players and is available for Salisbury boys in grades four to seven.
The camp will focus on proper fundamentals of basketball, skill development and mostly importantly having fun. There will be games and contests where students will have the chance to win some cool giveaways. Every student who participates in the camp will receive a free T-shirt.
The Salisbury Twirlers will host its annual designer purse and basket bingo fundraiser Nov. 13. Doors will open noon and bingo will start 1 p.m. at SMS. There will be game cards, specials, basket raffles, refreshments and prizes for those who attend and support the twirlers.
