School board approves substitute, appointment positions

The Catasauqua Area School Board at its Oct. 11 meeting approved a number of substitute and appointment positions.

Approved substitute positions include Janet Wanamaker as cafeteria substitute; Arian Orender as noncertified instructional aide; Jalen Nichols as noncertified instructional aide; Brittany Becker as substitute cafeteria aide; and Kimberly Bayer as substitute teacher.

Additionally, Christina Harrison, Katelynn Tekin and Kevin Rhodes were approved as substitute teachers; Pedro Alamo as cafeteria substitute, substitute driver and substitute custodian; and Jennie Tentomas as cafeteria substitute, substitute driver and noncertified instructional aide substitute.

Cynthia Bass was also appointed to serve as a noncertified instructional aide at Catasauqua High School with a rate of pay of $112.50 per day.

Also, CHS Class of 2013 graduate Liam Browne was approved to serve as an student teacher at CHS, under the direction of chemistry teacher Paula Semmel, effective Jan. 28 to March 3, 2017. Browne currently attends Muhlenberg College.

The board also announced and accepted the retirement of Sheckler Elementary School custodian Joseph Gallagher, effective Nov. 1.

The board will hold its next meeting 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute, 4500 Education Park Drive, Schnecksville.
