Ellen M. Sosnoski

Ellen M. (Heinly) Sosnoski, 40, of Paxinos, died Oct. 15, 2016. She was the wife of Brian J. Sosnoski. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of Larry and Barbara (Bernecker) Heinly.

She was a 1994 graduate of Emmaus High School, a 1998 graduate of Juniata College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business management and art history and a 2005 graduate of American InterContinental University with a Master of Arts degree in marketing.

During her field hockey career at Juniata, she was a MAC All-conference player, both athletically and academically. She won the Vila Metzger Art Award as a student at Juniata College, given for outstanding work in art history. She was an adjunct professor at Southern New Hampshire University, Central Penn and McCann School of Business.

She was a varsity, junior varsity and junior high school field hockey coach at Southern Columbia High School; community volunteer for AYSO and Shamokin Little League; past president of Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce; past secretary and board member of Ashland Downtown, Inc.; past co-chairperson of Ashland Downtown, Inc., Promotions Committee, past member of Ashland Area Rotary and Emmaus Lioness Club.

She loved scrapbooking for over 12 years and was an important part of the scrapbook/craft community. Her layouts, cards and projects were published in major magazines. She was a design team member and guest designer for multiple scrapbook and stamp companies. She worked for Core’dinations for many years as blog coordinator and social media/online marketing coordinator. She was a vital part of the Core’dinations trade show team, working Scrapfest and CHA for many years. She was creative and talented and made connections and friendships with so many in the paper craft world.

Her greatest accomplishment in life was raising her two sons, Owen and Henry.

She is survived by her parents; sons; sister, Amber E. Johnson.

Contributions may be made to Scholars Edge 529, 239 Windy Way, Union Hall, Va. 24176 to benefit Owen and Henry’s education.

A Celebration of Life was held in Elysburg Presbyterian Church with a Celebration of Life luncheon held at St. John’s U.C.C., Emmaus. Arrangements were made by the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus.
