Coplay: Garden club to meet tonight
Coplay Garden Club meets 7 p.m. tonight, Oct. 27, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St.

Trick-or-treat night in the borough is 6-8 p.m. Oct. 28. Rain date is Oct. 29. Residents are reminded to turn on their porch lights to welcome the girls and boys to their home for treats.
Borough police will be out in full force patrolling the streets, ensuring the safety of the trick-or-treaters, many of whom are accompanied by their parents/guardians.
A reminder for parents: Examine the goodies your kids bring home.

One of the last public events for the year by Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission takes place 9 a.m. Oct. 29 for an IRT historical walk.
Interested walkers are to meet at the barn on Chestnut Street, north of MacArthur Road.

Normally during this time, borough public works personnel are in the midst of picking up leaves put out at curbside by property owners for the once-a-week pickup. But with the recent warm weather, crews are still concentrating on picking up grass clippings for pickup.

The community Halloween parade, held by Coplay Recreation & Welfare Oct. 18, received plaudits from those along the parade route. The sidewalks were filled with enthusiastic crowds. And Coplay Saengerbund was again the place to be for the post-parade gathering, during which parade participants and others devoured hot dogs, snacks and beverages.

Coplay Senior Citizens is sponsoring a trip Dec. 10 to see “Winter Wonderland” at American Music Theater, Lancaster, with lunch at Good ‘N Plenty Restaurant.
Bus pickups are at the Weis Market on MacArthur Road in Whitehall and the A-HEPA building on South Albert Street in Allentown. Whitehall’s pickup is 7:30 a.m., and Allentown’s pickup is 8 a.m.
Deadline to order tickets is Nov. 2.
