Verna J. Klingaman, 95, of South Whitehall Township, died Oct. 10, 2016, at home.
She and her husband John D. Klingaman were married more than 70 years.
Born in Meyersdale, she was the daughter of the late Robert D. and Margaret C. (Lindeman) James.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Allentown.
After graduating from Lehigh University with her Master’s degree, she worked as a guidance counselor in the Parkland School District.
She surrounded herself with an abundance of friends, and considered her students as her children.
She retired in 1978 and then became a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees.
A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Mary Livingston Chapter, she was an avid dog lover who enjoyed breeding and showing dogs and receiving many ribbons.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by devoted and loving friends whom she considered her family.
Her services will be 11 a.m. Oct. 20 at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 W. Highland St., Allentown. Calling begins at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lehigh County Humane Society, 640 Dixon St. Allentown, PA 18103.
