‘Not Just Broadway Night’ Oct. 20 at Emmaus High School

Homecoming week at Emmaus High School was very successful. Many students had a great week. Students dressed up for different ‘spirit’ days during the week of Homecoming to prepare and lead up to the football game and dance.

Coming back this year, the Homecoming pep rally was Oct. 7 at the end of the school day. The powder puff teams and fall sports teams were recognized, the dance team and school band performed and the students participated in fun games and activities. The themes for spirit week were: America Day, Tie Dye Day, College/Sports Team Day, Pink Out and School Spirit Day. The annual Homecoming Dance was Oct. 8 at the high school.

The annual Red Cross Blood Drive was held Oct. 18 in the auxiliary gym and was for EHS students 17 or older.

“Not Just Broadway Night” will be held in the EHS auditorium 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 20.

?Students will be dismissed 11 a.m. Oct. 21?.

The senior class is selling Yankee candles. The sale ends Oct. 22 and candles will be delivered in time for holiday gifts. The goal is to raise $10,000 for the senior ball.

Students interested in traveling to Spain during spring break 2018 should attend a meeting 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26. Registration will begin for next year’s trip.

The drama department at EHS will present Neil Simon’s “Brighton Beach Memoirs” for the fall production 7 p.m. Nov. 3, 4 and 5. This comedic play is the autobiographical account of Simon’s childhood growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y. during the 1930s. Tickets can be reserved online via the EHS website at www.eastpennsd.org/ehs. Tickets will be available in the EHS main office lobby 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Oct. 24 and will also be available at the door. Gold card members can present Gold Cards in the main office or at the door to receive a complimentary ticket to any performance.

SAT and subject tests at EHS will be given 8 a.m. Nov. 5.

Picture retake day is scheduled Nov. 8. Picture retakes are for any student who would prefer a retake, any new students or anyone who was absent on picture day.

?The World Language National Honor Society Induction will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 17 in the EHS auditorium.

The Pennsylvania School for Global Entrepreneurship at Lehigh University and the University of Pittsburgh Health Career Scholars Academy, former Governor’s School programs are accepting applications for the 2017 summer programs. Current high school sophomores and juniors are encouraged to apply.
