Northampton: Jack Frost Parade will be held 7 p.m. tonight

The 2016 Jack Frost Parade, presented by Northampton Exchange Club, will take place 7 p.m. tonight, Oct. 20.

Please note the route is altered this year due to a road closure. The parade will begin in front of Northampton Area High School on Laubach Avenue. It will travel from Laubach Avenue to 19th Street, continuing to Main Street, then to 14th Street and back to Laubach Avenue.

Rain date is Oct. 27.

There is still time to sign up for children’s programs at Northampton Area Public Library. 1615 Laubach Ave. Programs begin Oct. 25 for ages 10 months to fifth grade.

The library also will hold a Medicare information session 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 22 and a Social Security and retirement program 6:30 p.m. Oct. 26. These programs are free and open to the public.

Northampton Area Food Bank will hold its annual Halloween Scare Away Hunger walkathon, rain or shine, Oct. 29.

Registration will begin 8:30 a.m. at the food bank, 1601 Canal St.

The 4-1/2-mile walk will kick off 9 a.m. along Canal Park Heritage Trail Walkway to Municipal Park and back.

Refreshments will be served.

Participants are encouraged to come in costume, bring their dogs, kids, friends and neighbors and get sponsors.

Those who don’t want to walk can make a donation or sponsor a walker.
