Frank Marshall Smith, 78, of Coplay, died Oct. 6, 2016, at home. He was the husband of Rita M. (Herzog) Smith for 54 years.

Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Vesper and Eva (Kleintop) Smith.

He was an U.S. Navy veteran.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

He was a corrections officer and head supervisor of maintenance at Lehigh County Prison, Allentown, from which he retired in 1980 as a lieutenant after 20 years of service. He then was a maintenance supervisor at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest until he retired in 1990.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Loriann Smith Morelli and her husband Cosimo Morelli; two sisters, Elsie Smale and Gloria Choy; nieces; and nephews.

He was predeceased by four sisters, Diane Stanche, Mary Greenzweig, Mary Fritz and Ethel Exner; and four brothers, Henry, Clark, James and Lee.
