The kickoff for Coplay’s 150th birthday will be held 7 p.m. tonight, Oct. 20, in council chambers of the borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St. Although 2019 seems distant, preliminary talks are on the agenda. Whether you are an interested resident, organization or business, your input is welcome.

Those recalling the 1969 centennial mention the celebration brought the community together in so many ways. The Borough Brothers and Sisters of the Swish forays into communities across the region. And the Koplay Keystone Kops were a smash hit!

There will be a cash bingo benefiting Whitehall-Coplay Hunger Initiative 2 p.m. Oct. 23 at Commitment to Family & Community, 165 Cherry St. Doors open 1 p.m.

Coplay Community Days Committee meets 7 p.m. Oct. 24 in council chambers of borough hall. The committee is comprised of volunteer organizations in town and churches.

The committee is asking groups to settle up their business affairs from the August program with the central committee.

The borough planning commission will meet in council chambers of borough hall 7 p.m. Oct. 25. Talks will center on a fundraiser Dec. 9 to benefit the community plaza, Second and Chestnut streets.
