The Emmaus cross country teams ended their season last week.
The boys team finished 13-4 overall and in fifth place in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. The Hornet girls team went 9-8 and placed ninth in the regular season. Both competed in Tuesday’s EPC Championship meet. See next week’s Press for coverage.
They capped the season last week with a meet at the Little Lehigh Parkway.
Emmaus’ Del Vierling finished sixth, just behind the pack of five Parkland runners who led the way, and in front of the Trojans’ Jacob Ringer in seventh place.
Following Vierling for the Hornets were Jake Brown, Mason Brown, Charlie Norelli and Jon Csensits. The Hornets beat Whitehall (15-50), Central Catholic (27-28), Allen (15-50) and Dieruff (19-44), while losing to Parkland.
Emmaus lost to Central Catholic (26-69), Whitehall and Parkland, but beat Dieruff (15-50) and Allen (15-50) to finish the season at 9-8. Behind Dalton were teammates Abby Heilenman (6th), Emma Keighlty (13th), Amber Ziegler (18th) and Amanda Lavana (19th).
In a meet ran on Sept. 27, senior Del Vierling took first place to lead the Hornets to a 3-0 day with wins over East Stroudsburg North (15-50), East Stroudsburg South (15-50) and Stroudsburg (15-46).
Other Hornet boys runners to finish in the top 10 included Jacob Brown (4th), Charlie Norelli (7th), Mason Brown (9th) and Max Perry (10th).
In the girls race, Abby Dalton took second place to help the Hornets to a 2-1 showing. Emmaus beat East Stroudsburg South (15-50) and East Stroudsburg North (15-50), but lost to Stroudsburg.
