Martha Anne Waricher
Martha Anne Waricher, MD, 73, of Allentown, died on Oct. 9, 2016, in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township.
She and her husband John G. Waricher were married 34 years.
Born Aug. 4, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Rene Joseph and Dorothy Eugenia (Schierman) Lusser.
A well-respected physician for the last 42 years, she graduated from St. Elizabeth Academy High School and Maryville College, both in St. Louis, with high honors summa cum laude, and the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine, No.1 in her class.
After a residency and internship at Boston Children’s Hospital, she was certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and certified in neurology with special qualification in child neurology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
She practiced pediatric and adult neurology in Allentown.
She was a member of the Council of Stewards at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Orefield.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her stepson John F. Waricher of Slatington and brother, Rene Eugene Lusser and his wife, JoAnne of St. Louis.
She was a devoted grandmother of Lindsey and Connor Waricher of Slatington; .
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Oct. 14 at St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.
The Rev. Msgr. Robert J. Wargo will serve as celebrant.
Family and friends may pay their respects 9-10:30 a.m. Friday in the church.
Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery, South Whitehall.
