Carl E. Dankle, 90, died Oct. 5, 2016, in St. Luke’s University Hospital, Bethlehem.
A resident of Fellowship Community, Whitehall, he and his wife, Janet (Sell), celebrated more than 68 years of marriage.
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Edwin and Ruth (Weiss) Dankle.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the Navy aboard the destroyer USS McNair DD679 where he earned the rank of gunner’s mate.
He also served aboard the CVE118 Sicily.
A self-employed plastering contractor, he enjoyed traveling to see dirt track auto racing.
He was a member and deacon of Bible Fellowship Community Church.
Active in archery, he was a lifetime member of Izaak Walton Rod and Gun Club.
He was also a member of the Tin Can Soldiers and American Legion Post 576 where he was active with its honor guard.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Donna Williams and husband, Trever, of Allentown; granddaughter Michele Beam of Trexlertown; grandson Adam McLaine and wife, Anita, of Whitehall; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Beam; great-grandsons, CJ (Carl) and Mark McLaine of Whitehall, Ryan Keyser of Cherryville; sister Irene Stotz of Bethlehem; cousins; and nieces.
He was predeceased by his brother Richard and sister Loretta Slezak.
