Now through Oct. 28, high school post-prom Thanksgiving dessert sale.
Oct.11-15: Homecoming Week at the high school.
Oct. 13: Garter Bowl, football stadium, 6 p.m.
Oct. 14: Mock election at Orefield Middle School, Three eighth grade civics teachers will conduct a mock election using six voting machines from Lehigh County Voter Registration Office. Students will study the candidates and make campaign posters for the event.
Oct. 15: Homecoming dance, 7:30-10:30 p.m., high school cafeteria. The king and queen will be announced during the dance.
Oct. 18: Post Prom Committee meeting, high school library, 7 p.m. Parents of students in kindergarten through grade 12, needed to keep this program alive for years to come, are invited to the meeting.
Oct.19: Parent fall workshop, 7 p.m., “Preparing for the College Admissions Process,” high school Rooms C200 and C220.
Oct. 21: Senior Night football game vs. Northampton, 7 p.m.
Oct 25: State Police Drug Awareness Academy. Lehigh Carbon Community College partners with Pennsylvania State Police and Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office, Probation, Coroner and Drug and Alcohol Abuse Program to offer a Drug Awareness Academy focusing on the heroin epidemic currently impacting communities.
This four-week course focuses on the dangers of heroin during presentations in the Scheller-Woodman Community Services Center 7-8:30 p.m. on the college’s main campus in Schnecksville. This academy is intended to have presenters from multiple facets to discuss a variety of topics but to also give community members an opportunity to ask questions. The first discussion will include individuals in recovery and their family members who will tell stories about how they were introduced to the drug and negotiated their way away from it.
