LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Wacky Wildlife Fall Fest Oct. 21

The PTA of Western Salisbury Elementary School is busy, busy.

The Scholastic book fair will run Oct. 18 to 21. Teachers will be taking their students during the day, it will be open during parent visitation for parents to stop in and if that isn’t enough time, it will also be open during the fall fest Oct. 21 so students and parents can shop together.

The Wacky Wildlife Fall Fest will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 21 at WSE. There will be games, food, balloon art, a cake walk and much more.

The school has been preparing for this event for weeks. Each classroom has been collecting donations. Those donations are being tallied and the classroom with the most donations will be able to watch their teacher cuddle the critter of their choice. The critters are on loan from the Wildlands Conservatory and will be at the fall fest along with a conservatory naturalist. Sounds like a good time.

Salisbury High School will host the annual financial aid night for parents of juniors and seniors. This is a very informative night and I recommend going. It runs 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 17.

SHS is having picture retake day Oct. 18 for any student who missed or did not like their school picture.

The elementary schools will be buzzing with parents on the two designated parent visitation days.

Harry S Truman Elementary School and WSE will open the doors to parents and guardians 9:30 to 11 a.m. Oct. 18 and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Oct. 20.

All township schools have an early dismissal Oct. 21. Please note the new time for the high and middle school. SHS and Salisbury Middle School will dismiss 10:45 a.m. while the elementary schools dismiss 1 p.m.

On Oct. 24, Salisbury Township will begin curbside leaf collection. It will begin in the first ward and continue west through mid-December. The township has asked residents to have the leaves along the edge of the road and keep vehicles away from the piles. For an up- to-date listing of where the crews will be working, visit the township website every Friday.

A school board meeting is scheduled 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 at the administration building.

The Devonshire drop-off center is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 15 and 18. The days of operation are the first and third Tuesday and Saturday of the month.
