Ruth H. Bortz, 95, formerly of Cetronia and Macungie, died Sept. 30, 2016, in Phoebe Home, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Kenneth W. Bortz, They were married 67 years when he died May 20, 2010. Born in Allentown, she was the only daughter of Erwin and Helen (George) Schmoyer.
She was a proud graduate of South Whitehall High School, Class of 1939. Upon graduation, she worked as an office clerk of John Hancock Insurance. She later worked at the former Village Inn as a hostess and waitress. She was last employed as a personnel clerk at Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent for 22 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a member of the AT&T Pioneers and a life-member of Cedar Lutheran Church, Cetronia.
She is survived by a daughter, Connie and her husband Herb Trexler, of Longswamp Township; granddaughters, Amy Bober and her partner Trent DeCann, Molly and her husband Steven Clay; great-grandchildren, Aiden Bober, Nola Bober and Austin DeCann.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Cedar Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 18104.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Oct. 5 at Cedar Lutheran Church, 3419 Broadway, Allentown. Calling hours will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the Trexler Funeral Home, Allentown.
