Rachel N. Snyder, 87, of Quakertown, formerly of Emmaus and Pottsville, died Oct. 1, 2016, in Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. She was the wife of the late Frederick E. Snyder. Born in Macungie, she was the daughter of the late Reuben and Lottie (Wenner) Lorish.
Before retiring, she worked at the former Eagle Shirts of Quakertown. Prior to that she worked in the classified advertising department for the Pottsville Republican.
She bowled in the Thursday Evening Gem League and was also a member of the Wet Ducks at the Quakertown YMCA.
She was an active member of First U.C.C., Quakertown. She loved her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Charles, of Denver, Colo., Lynn and her husband Jeff Hetzer, of Richmond, Va., Joan Bottor, of Quakertown and Douglas and his wife Elizabeth Brendze, of Philadelphia; brother, Harold Lorish and his wife Fern; four sisters, Ruth Christman, Althea Hoffman, Margaret and her husband Al Sterner and Sandra and her husband William Seaman; nine grandchildren, Joseph Bottor, Lottie Chapman, Jolene Bottor-Ortiona, Amanda Dunmyre, Eric and Kevin Hetzer, Jules Myers, Nathaniel and Danielle; five great-grandsons. She was predeceased by five sisters, Alice Slaterpryce, Erma Duryea, Marie Morse, Bernice Pettit and Julia Hummer.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
Services will be held 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at First U.C.C., 151 S. 4th St., Quakertown. Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. in the church. Arrangements were made by the C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, Inc., Quakertown.
