District Attorney Jim Martin recently announced a Lancaster County woman has been charged with numerous offenses in regards to a crash near Dorney Park, South Whitehall, over Memorial Day weekend.
Jaynelle Katelyn Troxell, 22, of 2951 Marietta Ave., East Hemphill Township, Lancaster County, was charged with one count each of homicide by vehicle and aggravated assault by vehicle, both felonies of the third degree; involuntary manslaughter, a misdemeanor of the first degree; and two counts of recklessly endangering another person, a misdemeanor of the second degree.
In addition, she faces summary charges for careless driving, failure to obey a traffic control device and laws regarding vehicles making left turns.
At approximately 6:30 p.m. May 27, Troxell, driving a Dodge Caravan westbound on Hamilton Boulevard, in South Whitehall Township, allegedly made an illegal left turn onto Lincoln Avenue.
In doing so, she struck a Honda motorcycle driven by Jesus Fred of Allentown.
Fred and his passenger, Saria Rivera Melendez, were thrown into the middle of the intersection.
Fred died as a result of his injuries.
South Whitehall Police Officer Justino Arroyo was at the intersection when the crash occurred and witnessed the collision.
Martin commended Sgt. Paul T. Dickinson Jr. and the South Whitehall Township Police Department for the excellent job done in investigating the incident.
