Joseph D. Susko

Joseph D. Susko, 72, of Breinigsville, formerly of Allentown, died Sept. 30, 2016.

He and his wife Jennie E. (Sipos) Susko were married 49 years.

Born Oct. 5, 1943, in Allentown, he was the son of the late Demetrius and Rose (Buda) Susko.

A 1961 graduate of Allentown Central Catholic High School, he served honorably in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He retired in 2005 from UPS, Bethlehem, after 35 years of service.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid golfer, bowler with “John’s Gang” and “Club 55” at the Rose Bowl, and also loved fly fishing.

He was a former member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Allentown.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Joanne Muniz and her husband, Alex, of Miami, Fla. and Jennifer Hanssen and her husband, Michael, of Allentown; grandsons Austin, Bryce and Chase; brothers John and his wife, Hope, of Pensacola, Fla., James and his wife, Annette, of Allentown; sisters Mary Ann of Catasauqua, Catherine and her husband, Richard Taylor, of Millsboro, Del., nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter Alexis.

His memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 6, in Stephens Funeral Home Inc., 274 North Krocks Road, Allentown.

Call 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Military honors will conclude the service in the garden of the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
