Various events offered for kids and adults in the community
Parkland Community Library, 4422 Walbert Ave., South Whitehall Township, will be hosting toddler time for children 18 months to age 3 and their caregivers at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 5, 6, 12 and 13.
There will be stories, songs and games.
Teen Thursday, an event for teens to come play games and chat about future teen events is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6.
Deconstruction Day, a STEM event for kids in grades four and up is set for noon Oct. 8.
The youngsters can take apart printers, keyboards and other electronic devices to find out what makes them tick.
Baby time for children age birth to 2 years old is set for 10:30 a.m. Oct. 10.
Enjoy stories and some rhymes before playtime.
Senior Book Club is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Oct. 11 at Luther Crest retirement community, 800 Hausman Road, South Whitehall Township.
The group will discuss “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah.
Join expert Randy Wenhold for a collectible glass showcase and advise and tips on collecting glass at the Looking through the Glass event 6:30 p.m. Oct. 11.
All these events are free and will be held at the library except the senior book club.
Friends of the Library will be holding a porch book sale 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 3 at the library.
Browse through tables of hardcover and paperback books, DVD, CDs and games.

Upper Macungie Township has partnered with Keith Brintzenhoff to offer Pennsylvania German Language classes 7-8:30 p.m. Monday evenings until Nov. 9 in the Independent Park’s meeting room, 150 Independent Road, Breinigsville.
The township and Brian Kresge is hosting pickup basketball 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursdays until Nov. 19 at Jaindl Elementary School.
Pickup volleyball with Rich Kiser is being held 8-10 p.m. Tuesday nights until March 29 at Fogelsville Elementary School, Route 100.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran, 1028 Church St., Fogelsville, is hosting a basket social from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 8 at the church.
Drawings for the 100-plus themed baskets will be at 1:30 p.m.
Ticket holders do not need to be present to win. Various product consultants will also be on hand.
Lunch and baked goods will be available for purchase as well as homemade soup and chowchow. Preview night is from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 7.
