SkillsUSA Council has announced the inaugural Elmer Gates Memorial Clay Shoot, sponsored by Jerdon Construction Services.
The event will be held 10 a.m. Sept. 30 at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays on Limestone St., Coplay. Lunch and awards will follow.
The Elmer Gates Memorial Clay Shoot honors the legacy of SkillsUSA Council founder Elmer Gates, who dedicated his life to young and developing leaders.
He served on the board of directors until his death in 2015.
His dedication, leadership and vision are reasons why SkillsUSA Council is a success.
Chadd Lutseo, a student from Bethlehem Area Vocational-Technical School and SkillsUSA Council Ambassador, will speak on how being involved with SkillsUSA has enhanced his education.
Proceeds from the event will benefit students in District 11 attending career and technical education schools.
The SkillsUSA Council is a partnership of five area career and technical schools and over 70 local employers and professional associations in Lehigh, Northampton, Monroe, and Upper Bucks counties, which provides educational programs for students to improve their employability skills.
