Suburban North YMCA is pleased to rename its annual 5-K and launch Debbie’s Dash: The Debbie Linton Memorial 5-K, Walk and Free Kids Fun Run. The event will be held 3 p.m. Oct. 15.

The goal of the event is to remember and capture the energy of Linton and others who fought a brave battle against cancer. As a tribute to Linton, the scenic course will start and end at the Alumni Field in Catasauqua. The kids run also will be held at Alumni Field.

You can preregister up until Oct. 1 at a discounted rate; from Oct. 2 on, the cost of the race increases.

Dash After Dark, a continuation of Debbie’s Dash, will be held at the Willow Brook pavilion, Howertown Road, North Catasauqua. Join in 6-10 p.m. for live entertainment by the James Supra Band and enjoy Oktoberfest-inspired food, desserts and beverages.

The overall male and female winner will each receive a Visa gift card. Medals will be awarded to the top three in each age group.

Sponsorship levels are available; check with the YMCA regarding the levels.

Proceeds from this event will enable the Y to donate a percentage to American Cancer Society, offer cancer support groups at the Y and provide children in need in the local service area with sponsorships to the Y, especially to the youth track program that will launch in 2017.

Contact the YMCA at 610-264-5221 to register for Debbie’s Dash and/or to purchase your Dash After Dark tickets.
