Robert C. Plata Sr., 82, of Coplay, died Sept. 16, 2016, at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Virginia R. (Geosits) Plata for 56 years.
Born in Cementon, he was a son of the late Michael and Anna (Biss) Plata.
He served his country during the Korean Conflict.
He had retired from Balford Farms, Allentown. He previously worked for Woods Catering and A&B Meats.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Egypt.
He was a Third Degree Knights of Columbus member. He was a past president of St. Lawrence the Martyr Holy Name Society, North Catasauqua.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Hilda and her husband Carl Seier of Coplay, Laura and her husband David Skarwecki of Mechanicsville, Md., and Mary Kelly and her husband Martin Cohick of Schnecksville; a son, Robert Jr. and his wife Kathleen of York; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ruthann and her husband Roland Grieshammer, AnnMarie and her husband Thomas Pavlinsky, Mary Helen Plata and Monica Plata; cousins; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Michael and David; and a sister, Virginia E. Plata.
There will be a calling hour 9-10:30 a.m. Sept. 22 at Reichel Funeral Home Inc., 326 E. 21st St., Northampton, 18067; followed by a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, 4102 S. Church St., Whitehall, 18052.
