The Baum School of Art will hold its annual Fall Gala Oct. 8, celebrating the 90th anniversary of the school’s founding by Walter Emerson Baum in 1926.
The Gala will honor the Rodale Family for their many decades of support for The Baum School of Art, as well as their outstanding service to the Lehigh Valley community.
In addition, The Baum School of Art will be displaying the “Hans Moller: Modern Color” exhibition in the David E. Rodale and Rodale Family Galleries, showcasing the work of the renowned American painter.
The 90th Anniversary Gala will be held at The Baum School of Art, beginning with a Silent Auction and Cocktail Hour at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 8. Dinner, provided by Catering by Karen Hunter, begins at 8 p.m. Attire is black-tie optional.
The Rodale Family has been deeply engaged with The Baum School of Art as students, trustees, donors, volunteers and artists for the 90-year history of the school. Beginning with the legacy of J.I. and Anna Rodale, their spirit of generosity and creativity lived on in their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The Rodale family’s exemplary commitment to the arts has helped create a vibrant arts and culture community in the Lehigh Valley, and their involvement in The Baum School of Art continues to play an important role in the school’s success.
Hans Moller, a significant American painter, spent more than 60 years creating works of art known for their distinctive, bright, expressive color. His work frequently depicted landscapes, especially scenes from Monhegan Island, Maine, where he spent many summers painting.
Moller’s work is a departure from realism and an exploration of color, form, composition and their relationships. Moller spent the last 31 years of his life, 1968-2000, living in Allentown, where he was a supporter and patron of The Baum School of Art.
Gold sponsors of the 90th Anniversary Gala include Amaranth Foundation, J. Lawrence Grim, Jr. and Kathleen O’Dea, Lutron, and Rodale.
