Marshall D. Beers Jr., 73, of Allentown, died Sept. 11, 2016 in St. Luke’s University Health Network surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Carol A. (DeLong) Beers, with whom he celebrated 40 years of marriage. Born in Palmerton, he was the son of the late Marshall D. Beers Sr. and Naomi (Shelley) Beers.

He was the lead housekeeper for Muhlenberg College for 29 ½ years, retiring in 2012 due to illness. He served with the Cetronia Ambulance Corps.

He honorably served his country in the Army stationed in Germany.

He is survived by his wife; son, Keith M. and his wife Jennie, of Northampton; daughter, Heidi K., of Hatfield; brothers, David and his wife Kay, of Allentown, James and his wife Debra, of Emmaus and Martin, of Emmaus; sister, Mae Parsell, of Emmaus; grandson, Chase J.; stepgrandson, James F. Wright III; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service with military honors will be held 2:30 p.m. Sept. 16 in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Visitation 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Second Harvest Food Bank, 6969 Silver Crest Road, Nazareth, 18064.
