District news: Steckel plans meet the teacher night

Steckel Elementary School’s meet the teacher night is 6:30-8:30 p.m. tonight, Sept. 15. Children should not attend; this event is for parents only.

Plan a visit to your child’s classroom and learn about the curriculum and activities.

Please be prompt to your child’s classroom to hear teacher presentations. There will be a book fair during the evening’s events. Staff members from the cafeteria also will be there to help you with your child’s lunch account.

Additionally, the PTO will be there to accept membership forms. A spirit wear sale also will be held.

Breakfasts are being served. If your child would like to purchase a cold breakfast before the school day begins, the cost is $1.60.

Meet the teacher night at Gockley Elementary School is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 22. Parents and guardians are invited to come and visit their child’s school to meet their teachers. Children should not accompany their parents.

Each classroom will begin promptly 6:40 p.m. with a presentation to parents about the classroom, curriculum and activities. After you visit your child’s classroom for the 20-minute presentation, you may take a tour of the building.

Be sure to visit the library, art room, guidance office, school office, health room, music room, gymnasium and cafeteria. Parents can join the PTO in the cafeteria.

There also will be a Scouting table. PTO school spirit items will be for sale in the cafeteria. Don’t forget to stop by the book fair that evening, too.

Also in the cafeteria, there will be someone to help you with your child’s lunch accounts.

Picture day at the middle school is scheduled for Sept. 22. Students will be bringing home forms for parents/guardians to review and return with payment for photos.

Please be sure your child wears socks and sneakers on the days they have gym. Wearing proper footwear ensures full participation and safety in class.

Please continue to support the PTO. The organization will continue to provide numerous educational and cultural programs for students in grades K-12. Many special events could not occur without the assistance and financial support of this dedicated organization.

During the upcoming weeks, parents/guardians will receive information about becoming a member. Please enroll your family as a member; there are no commitments when you enroll, and it will only benefit your child. Fundraising information also will be distributed.

Volunteers are welcome to actively participate in the following opportunities: hospitality, school volunteers for grades K-12, holiday party, school spirit functions, fundraisers, publicity, book fairs, Children’s Day and other various programs and special projects.

The PTO exists for all children’s benefits. Please consider being an active member.

If your child is absent from school for three or more days, parents/guardians are encouraged to request homework is gathered for them. Parents must call the school to request homework, which must be picked up in the main office before 4 p.m.
