Isabelle Stringer, a recent Allentown Central Catholic High School graduate, has been awarded a P.E.O. STAR Scholarship for the 2016-17 academic year.
The scholarship was presented during a reception at the home of Loran Staehle, P.E.O. Chapter BB STAR Scholarship Committee chairperson.
The daughter of Rick and Michelle Stringer, Isabelle attends American University where she is studying international relations.
The Philanthropic Educational Organization’s $2,500 scholarship is based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for future success.
The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded Jan. 21, 1869, at Iowa Wesleyan College, Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is an international philanthropic and educational organization which promotes increased educational opportunities for women.
There are nearly 6,000 local chapters in the United States and Canada with almost 250,000 initiated members.
