Roughie Roundup Boys soccer gets a win
The Catty boys soccer team defeated Northern Lehigh 1-0.
The game was tied 0-0 at halftime and at the end of regulation until Grant Gebhardt scored on a direct free kick from just outside the box just two minutes into the first overtime.
That was enough to give Catty the win. The Roughs out shot the Bulldogs 6-2. Catty keeper Samir Safadi saved two in the win. Nick Miller saved five for Northern Lehigh.
The Bulldogs girls soccer team knocked off CHS 4-0.
Jill Olewine scored all four goals in the win. NL outshot Catty 11-5.
Northampton field hockey had a big day against Catty, winning 9-1.
The Kids Emily Henry scored four goals and added two assists.
Danielle Straub added two goals while Hallie Muffley, Morgan Mullen and Caila Feist each scored one goal.
Jackie Garner had Catty’s only goal in the loss.
Ashley Kunsman and Cassie Borzillo both saw time in net for the Kids.
Catty competed in the Lion Invitational over this past weekend.
For the boys, Sebastian was the highest finisher coming in 101st with a time of 20:27. Alec Hartranft was 109th in 20:51, Bradshaw Henning was 113th in 21:30 and Darien Wasser 127th in 23:05.
For the girls, Bree Sheldon was 96th with a time of 28:39.1. Katie Verenna was 98th in 29:41 and Alexis Sheldon was 99th in 30:40.7.
Other finishers for the Roughs were: 102. Montana Muller 32:40.3; 103. Bethanie Delucia 32:42.1; 104. Alexia Reichl 32:42.3; 105. Danie Pluchinsky 33:03.5.
The Catasauqua volleyball team lost to Lehighton and East Strousburg South in recent games.
The Indians defeated Catty 25-2, 25-5 and 25-12.
Eastburg topped the Roughs 25-16, 25-15 and 25-10.
Yakira Downes had seven kills to go along with two aces for the winners.
