Whitehall library: Library will be closed Sept. 5

The Friends of the Library group meets the second Friday of each month in the library’s community room. The next meeting will be 10 a.m. Sept. 9.
The Friends group is having its annual membership drive. If you would like to be a Friend of the Library member, you may pick up a form at the front desk or on our website.
For different membership costs, call the library.
Also, the group has an ongoing book sale, and money raised from the sale supports the library. Some examples include various programs for children and adults; a $500 Friend of the Library Scholarship, awarded to a graduating Whitehall High School senior; books for the One Book Every Child program; automated external defibrillator supplies, which include a heart start battery and new pads for a defibrillator; and a microphone sound system, costing $1,284, for our third Monday open mic night.

Dave Fry, a local musician, will be at the library 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15 to entertain all ages. Come in and join the music fun!

A how-to-bead program will be held 6 p.m. Sept. 21 and 28. If you are interested in beaded jewelry and making some for yourself, join us for this class.
Space is limited, so please register by phone or at the front desk. You may register for either or both of our classes, depending on your availability and how many questions you think you’ll have. Come on in; you don’t have to bring anything except a willingness to learn and have fun.
Marty Beaton is donating the supplies, so your first class will be free of charge.

Wonder Health and Wellness will be here to present the program “Find Your Stress Free Zone” 6 p.m. Sept 22. Stress is a natural part of our life; let the program presenters show you how to manage it.

Remember to purchase your duck race ticket at the library before Sept. 25. Whitehall Lions Club and other community organizations are sponsoring a duck race to be held Sept. 25 as part of Stroll on the Parkway. The race will be 1 p.m. on the Ironton Rail Trail at Hokendauqua Park.
All proceeds go toward the purchase of a closed-circuit television for Whitehall Township Public Library patrons who are visually impaired.
There is a cost for a ticket, and one ticket buys one duck. Each duck will have a number on it.
For cost and other information, call the library.
