Hilda R. (Horwath) Charles, 83, of Germansville, died Aug. 27, 2016, in her home.

She was the wife of the late Harry V. Charles.

Born Oct. 5, 1932, in Slatington, she was the daughter of the late Stephen J. and Lillian M. (Iselin) Horwath.

She was a waitress at Chris’ Diner and the former Peter Pan Diner, Kuhnsville, for 43 years before retiring.

She also worked with her daughter, Barbara, who owned and operated the former Sew Perfect Alterations for several years.

She was a former volunteer at Community Fire Co. No. 1, Schnecksville.

Her survivors include a daughter, Barbara A. Heimbach and her husband, William, of Alburtis; granddaughter Jenna N. Heimbach of Zionsville; siblings Joan E. Shellhammer of Slatington, Lorraine Smolick of Allentown, Edward Mack of Slatington, Joyce Wiker of Lancaster, Ellen Hausman of Walnutport, and Evelyn Crowson of Slatington.

She was predeceased by brothers Stephen Horwath and Allen Mack.

Her memorial service will be 11 a.m. Sept. 1 in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dr. David Charles Smith officiating.

Family and friends may pay their respects 10-11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery, South Whitehall.
