Floyd E. Wood

Floyd E. Wood, 71, of Hernando, Fla., formerly of Macungie, died Aug. 14, 2016, at home with his loving wife, Karen and his dog and best friend, Spike. He fought a long, courageous battle with lung cancer. Born in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Virginia (Everett) and William Floyd B. Wood.

He served in the U.S. Army in 1966. He then started his career with Mr. Nicholas J. Bouras Inc., and in 1981 acquired Prior Coated Metals in Allentown where he ended his 47 years career as a steel executive. He was a very caring, generous, giving boss to all of his employees.

He was a long time member of Brookside Country Club and a member of Skyview Country Club in Hernando, Fla.

He was a diehard Redskins fan and loved his NASCAR racing. He was an avid Republican and enjoyed following the presidential race right up until the end.

He is survived by his wife; dog; son, Richard, of Savannah, Ga.; sister, Margaret Stevens, of Catasauqua; sister-in-law, Patricia Boyle and her companion Jeff Campbell; brother-in-law, William Keller and his wife Jane; father-in-law, William C. Keller and his wife Yolanda; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 27, at the Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main St., Emmaus. Funeral service will follow.
