Richard A. Merics, 81, of Lower Macungie Road, Trexlertown, Lower Macungie Township, died Aug. 11, 2016, in his home. He was the husband of Annamae C. (Patrouch) Merics since April 19, 1958. Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Charles and Carolina (Voros) Merics.
He was employed as a clerk for the Lehigh Valley Post Office for 32 years, retiring in 1992. Previously, he worked at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp., for eight years.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown.
He was a 1953 graduate of Palmerton High School. He served in the U.S. Army, Korea era and achieved the rank of Pfc. (T). He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Allentown, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Coplay Saengerbund, American Legion, Hogan’s Social Club and the Woodlawn Volunteer Fire Co., Allentown.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Linda M. and her husband Frank Daddona, of Mertztown, Carol A. Mistysyn, of Winter Garden, Fla.; four grandchildren, Tanya, Marcus, Deanna and Olivia; brother, Charles and his wife Mary, of Allentown; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Michael.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Aug. 17 in the Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Ave., Palmerton. Call 10 to 11 a.m. Aug. 17 in the funeral home.
